I am showing you here how to retouch jewelry in different ways.
Jewelry retouching style 1
Here we are just removing the background and adding few minor corrections. This is simple jewelry retouching. We use Photoshop pen to cut out the jewelry from the background. Then we just put it in a white background. This is perfect if your images of jewelry are shot with perfection. It is rare that we get perfect jewelry images, because it is very hard to shoot jewelry without having any kind of artifacts like smudges, faults on stones, shank etc.
So here is one image of simple jewelry retouching.
Jewelry retouching style 2
In this case, the client wants us to enhance what is already visible on the jewelry piece. We enhance shadows, reflections and add more detailed work. We try to keep the jewelry image intact. We just enhance certain features and of course repair damage, smudges, fingerprints, discoloration. But the main thing is to keep the image as original as possible. He usually does not even want to desaturate the white gold surface. He wants to keep original colors.
Jewelry retouching style 3
This is another style of jewelry retouching where we removed all the black reflections from the item. As you can see we still kept the original color of the ring, which is slightly pink. In reality, it should be desaturated. Some clients do not want any reflection on their rings. We need to remove them. But from my opinion reflections are the vital part of jewelry image. Reflections give jewelry piece depth, 3D look and more.
Jewelry retouching style 4
This style is more advanced. As you can see we added reflection on top of the ring and on the shank. We also corrected the original color of the jewelry item. Shank needs black reflections. They are a vital part of jewelry image. We still kept the structure of the jewelry item intact. We just added white reflection /shine on top the of the ring and black shine on the inner part of the shank. Some customers prefer this way of retouching.
Jewelry retouching style 5
This was the final style in this particular jewelry retouching item. We used a different style of reflection on the top of the ring. It shows more depth and is more natural than in jewelry retouch style 4. This was also the final image that customer was really happy with. This shows how we can adapt to clients needs. It is important that our clients are 100 % satisfied.
